Scottish Monitoring Group on Housing and Homelessness

... Watching the Executives

About the Group

Whose are the independent voices in Scottish housing? Damn few. But they’re not a’ deid.

The Scottish Monitoring Group provides a home for new ideas. We’re not interested in government grants, council funding, taking on stock transfers or academic respectability.

In other words, we’re free to say and publish what we like. Our members are deeply sceptical about the direction of current government policy, and are ready to say why.

We’re not simply concerned with high level debates. In fact, we’re most interested in what landlords actually do. So many promises are made of tenant consultation, participation and even control - yet so many things still go wrong.

We have no problem publishing views which, as individuals, we may disagree with. All we ask is that contributors write truthfully,  sincerely and lawfully.

Our major event so far has been a successful conference in Govan, early in 2005. Use the link on the left to find papers from that day. The 2007 event is in Pollokshaws Burgh Hall.

If you have a point to make, please send an article (e-mail to info@monitoringscottishhousing.org.uk). We’ll publish it on this site in The Knowledge, but be warned! We may make comments on it, or ask others to do so.
